Wikitude let us know that they have launched v7 of their augmented reality browser for BlackBerry. This new version has a revamped user interface offering you a new way to interact with the world. They take advantage of the screen layout and other improvements. They call out specific changes to:
- Favorites: Organize your Worlds according to your preferences & lifestyle

- Categories: Find the Worlds you are looking for in the new category list
These three new screens are available if you slide right or left. Wikitude is launching this new version along with partners including TripAdvisor, Hotels.com, and Yelp along with more. Wikitude 7 is is available now in App World for most OS 6.0+ devices.

It would be nice if their write-up on App World would mention that BBM is required. I would love to try this app but I’m not about to install BBM just for that.

What kind of BlackBerry user goes out of their way to uninstall BBM?

No worries — no offense taken. When I upgraded my 9700 to OS 6, I shrunk the OS to make it usable on the 9700. I know some folks can’t live without BBM
but I don’t have much use for it so it was one of the things that got cut.

Love wikitude! It makes full use of BBM and the other BlackBerry functions. The ultimate social tool.

Wikitude requires GPS or location services to be turned on doesn’t it?
I’m still not keen on applications that want to use your location for public or private reasons ….. yeah …. call me old fashioned on this point!
