SkyTunes Streams Music To & From Your PlayBook With Caching (PC/MAC)

SkyTunes Music Streaming has been available for awhile now but for some reason we have never mentioned it. SkyTunes lets you listen to your music collection on your PC or Mac from your PlayBook. It even works the other way around allowing you to control the music playing on your computer. Better yet it also caches your last 500 played songs on the device so even when you don’t have internet access you still can access your songs. If you know how to setup port forwarding on your router you can even access your music over 3G or public Wi-Fi.

Features include:

  • Album Art
  • ID3 Data Support
  • Full Folder browsing
  • Free Desktop Server which imports, and organizes your music
  • Custom playlists easily created on your PC
  • Optimized for huge song libraries with smooth scrolling, no delays whatsoever.
  • Background Playback mode

Check out more info at or you can find SkyTunes in App World for $4.99 with a free trial.

  1. Sounds like a cool app as I’d love to be able to access music on my PlayBook without having it take up storage space. Does anyone know if it plays DRM music?

  2. This is one of the first apps I got for my PlayBook over a year ago now. It is an awesome app, does exactly what it is supposed to and the UI is smooth and intuitive. I have always wondered why it never got featured before by a BB Blog.
