SMS, Wi-Fi, & More Coming Soon With Bridge Update?

Bla1ze over at CrackBerry shared some of what he has been hearing about upcoming BlackBerry Bridge updates. The first was that BlackBerry Bridge v2.1 will be adding Text Message (SMS) capabilities over Bridge. I can confirm that this is definitely coming which is exciting for many who use alternatives. Also RIM is working on Bridge over Wi-Fi expanding beyond just Bluetooth. This should hopefully open up more bandwidth and lower latency for RIM to speed up the bridge experience.

There are quite a few other updates coming for bridge since RIM is not forgetting about it anytime soon. There is a big value proposition for BlackBerry owners with Bridge on the PlayBook and RIM is going to continue improving it.

  1. I am above and BEYOND stoked about this news…. I SMS #LikeAboss and love all things WiFi…. #LoveIt

  2. I’m glad RIM is continuing with Bridge upgrades. Next upgrade should be answering phone calls with the PlayBook. Boldly going where no OS has gone before!

  3. I’m hoping that all the bridge changes will work with phone OS 6.

Not much good reading about all the potential changes / abilities until they state that OS 6 as well as OS 7 will be able to access all and any upgraded bridge changes.
