Free Compose Email PlayBook App Is Like A Homescreen Shortcut

One of the things I have been missing on my PlayBook is homescreen shortcuts. RIM is going to open up some of the API’s necessary for developers to integrate apps with the PlayBook OS and native Email, Calendar, and Contacts but that has not stopped devs from trying. The same bloke who won our BlackBerry 10 Jam Unconference contest, Will, let us know that he created a very simplistic and easy to use “Compose Email” PlayBook app. It simply fires up a fast email composition screen where you type in the subject and body. It then shoots it over to the native email app for sending.

  • Compose email in Portrait or Landscape
  • Integration with the native Messages App
  • Automatic copy-to-clipboard
  • Copy & Paste
  • Launches faster than Messages
  • Matches style of the 2.0 Messages, Contacts, and Calendar apps

While this app is simplistic now I am hoping Will is taking Compose Email along with his previous Many Notes app down to BlackBerry 10 Jam next week to get it a makeover with Cascades and the APIs RIM may release at the conference. Until then check out Compose Email free in App World.
