Today we received a tip that several US and international carriers are already testing PlayBook 3G and 4G with OS 2.0.1. Those line up along side to other rumors we heard in the past. The list below indicates the carriers and country where they are currently testing the devices. The tipster also mentioned that the launch is scheduled for May which would line up nicely with RIM hosting BlackBerry world 2012 at the beginning of may it would make sense for them to announce the device at their own event.
So how many of you will actually purchase a BlackBerry PlayBook 4G/3G?

Excellent – I will probably grab one on Bell Mobility’s network.

Only having limited knowledge of software development, the version (2.0.1) tells me that this isn’t going to be a big revision (as compared to 2.1.0).. but I could be wrong. Any news on what will be added/updated in the new release?

html5test.com is reporting Playbook OS 2.1 and BlackBerry 10 devices running a sweet browser that outperforms many on the HTML5 compatibility tests. In fact, the RIM browser is the most compatible HTML5 mobile browser out there — tablet or phone!
RIM Tablet OS 2.1 BlackBerry PlayBook 381 10 bonuses
BlackBerry 10 BlackBerry PlayBook 381 10 bonuses
RIM Tablet OS 2.0 BlackBerry PlayBook 373 9 bonuses
iOS 5.1 Apple iPad, iPhone 324 9 bonuses
Android 4.0 ASUS tablet 273 3 bonuses
Android 2.3 Google Nexus S 189 1 bonus
HTML5 compatibility contributes greatly to browser rendering speed, and rendering is the biggest cause of lag when browsing.
The PlayBook also supports flash — adding to the excellent browsing experience!

Keep in mind that the above OS release # is 2.0.1 (not sure if this is a typo), but it is different that release 2.1.

With BB 7.1′s mobile hotspot, I no longer have a need for a 4G PlayBook, but I understand some “standalone” users might now be open to getting a PlayBook.
It can’t arrive soon enough to help RIM in this quiet cycle before the release of BB 10.
Anyone know what is “new” in PlayBook OS 2.1?

So BB event over, no mention of the Playbook 3G for the UK, so much for the speculation of an announcement, more customers lost, including me who will now look for an alternative, unless I pick up information in the next day or so with a confirmed release date. Have big events RIM but get the basics right. Customer service is all and until they get this, decline will continue.
