Free SideSwipe App is a Lightweight News Reader for Your Smartphone

Sideswipe Sideswipe2

A few readers sent us tips about SideSwipe during its beta and now it has officially launched. The new app is a news aggregator that tries to tame the firehose of news and funnel it onto your phone. You subscribe to certain channels and it will automatically curate the news for you. The app does not have the ability to add your own RSS feeds which is a shame but it makes up for it in speed. It reminds me quite a bit of the Social Feeds app built in OS 6.0+ devices but it is much much faster and a tiny install at only ~100K.

If you have been looking for a lightweight news reader and you don’t care about things like Google Reader integration or RSS subscriptions then check out SideSwipe free in App World. I really have to commend the developers on making SideSwipe so efficient…

  1. I was using the beta versions of this and the devs certainly improved on it as they went. I found myself reading things I wouldn’t normally read so I liked it.
