Second Generation of BBM Challenge Council Coming Soon From RIM

Old BBM Challenge

RIM let us know that their first BBM Challenge Council program that ran in October of last year was a big success for them with millions of youngsters tuned in a thousands participating. They announced this week that they will be following it up with a second generation of the BBM Challenge Council this time called the BlackBerry Challenge Council Project. For the second generation RIM has moved from celebrity influencers to two popular comedic actors/producers Streeter Seidell and Amir Blumenfeld (known for MTV’s Pranked and CollegeHumor.com).

According to RIM:

“The two comedic actors will challenge today’s youth to compete in a series of five challenges over three months presented through webisodes. With the help of special celebrity guest cameos, including Greyson Chance and Leighton Meester, each Challenge Council webisode will examine a misconception or myth about BlackBerry smartphones and ask participants to help correct it.  The webisodes will also highlight core features of the latest line of BlackBerry smartphones such as their social music capabilities and faster web browsing. Winning entries will be awarded prizes including tickets to exclusive events and all-inclusive trips or experiences with their friends.”

We should be hearing more about the upcoming challenge shortly. Until then you can keep an eye on the old BBM challenge website for updates.

  1. Support for video call

  2. I find this campaign so wrong (based on the quote)… It needs to focus on the strength of the platform, not on how it can match the other ones. We all know that BBM music is no match for iTunes, Spotify, etc.

Show how easy it is to share something to multiple social networks via Social feeds, how you can get things done with just the phone and a few apps, etc.

  3. RIMM needs to combine their add-on core apps together: BlackBerry Traffic, News, Maps, Travel, Music, Messenger apps Together and advertise this as “BlackBerry, the device that helps keep you social and on the go.”
