RIM just announced their acquisition of Paratek Microwave Inc today which is their latest in a string of acquisitions. I can only imagine what Paratek will do for RIM does give us a bit of a hint. Paratek is a leader in adaptive RF tuning technologies for multi-band (multiple frequency) devices. They have technology called ParaScan that is a thin material that can vary its capacity as the voltage changes to adapt to different bands. In other words think of phones that can support multiple frequency in a smaller package.
RIM promises that Paratek will continue to focus on developing RF tuning technologies with support from RIM. Hopefully that means we are getting one step further to one BlackBerry that supports all 2G, 3G, and 4G networks without different models… I dream 🙂
