RIM Acquires Paratek Microwave Inc for RF Tuning Technologies

Paratek

RIM just announced their acquisition of Paratek Microwave Inc today which is their latest in a string of acquisitions. I can only imagine what Paratek will do for RIM does give us a bit of a hint. Paratek is a leader in adaptive RF tuning technologies for multi-band (multiple frequency) devices. They have technology called ParaScan that is a thin material that can vary its capacity as the voltage changes to adapt to different bands. In other words think of phones that can support multiple frequency in a smaller package.

RIM promises that Paratek will continue to focus on developing RF tuning technologies with support from RIM. Hopefully that means we are getting one step further to one BlackBerry that supports all 2G, 3G, and 4G networks without different models… I dream :)

Check out RIM’s announcement or more details on Paratek at www.paratek.com. Here is the announcement from Paratek’s website:

Research In Motion acquires Paratek

We are pleased to announce that RIM has acquired Paratek Microwave Inc.

As a part of RIM, a technology leader and pioneer in the smartphone category, Paratek will continue to innovate and to bring leading edge adaptive tuning solutions to the industry. We are very excited about this transaction and the opportunity to serve RIM and realize our vision.

As always, we will continue to pursue the development of state-of-the-art adaptive tuning technologies. We look forward to working with our new colleagues and integrating our solutions into RIM’s BlackBerry product offerings.

  1. RIM IS DEAD

    wait….they just bought this company…

how did they do that if they are DEAD

    ……………..

  2. The key to RIMM’s success is to combine these acquired companies together as a cohesive unit.

  3. Hey BerryReview guys! I read somewhere about Paratek that they produce RF antennas that are able to pick up various bands (3g, 4g etc)….does that mean that RIM no longer has to wait for this awesome Qualcomm 4g chipset? Does this mean that maybe, just maybe, we can get BB10 BEFORE September? *Crosses fingers*
