RIM Gives an Update on PlayBook Developer Offer – 6,225 Apps Submitted

PlayBook 2.0 Question

RIM’s offer of a free BlackBerry PlayBook to developers who submit PlayBook apps to App World is almost over. We have been getting reports from developers who are in many different stages of the approval process asking if there were any updates and thankfully RIM has finally offered one. My buddy Alex Kinsella broke down some of the main questions and answers along with stats on the BlackBerry Developer Blog. Here is a quick summary:

  • Your app may be held up because you did not sign the code or your app targets the wrong OS version (Must target OS 2.0) !,200 app submissions have one of these issues and RIM is waiting for devs to fix them.
  • As of yesterday 6,225 apps have been submitted. 4,777 have submitted at least one app and received the email saying they completed the first step for the offer.
  • 1,827 apps have been approved and 1,283 devs have been asked for their shipping address
  • Over 3,000 apps remain to be reviewed
  • RIM is currently averaging 250 app reviews a day but have added staff to be able to review 400 per day.

Lastly if you have not received an email from RIM yet check your Spam/Junk folder for an email from RIM or TMG Ideas.

  1. I’ve not received any message from RIM, and there is nothing in my Spam folder other than the usual rubbish.

According to the Vendor Portal, my app is ‘under review’ though (as opposed to ‘pending review’), so hopefully I’ll hear something soon.

  2. And you won’t till it is approved, I guess.

My app was denided after beeing Pending Review and Under Review.

Guess I too had problems signing the bar hehe!

  3. Thanks for the clarification Diego.

My wife is already making noises about appropriating the PB if I qualify for one! 🙂

  4. Where are all these apps??

  5. we already have our apps approved and live on app world ,
but still no email from RIM, have checked spam folder also.

    any update would be appreciated
