Box for BlackBerry PlayBook Sees 500,000 Users Since Launch

Box PlayBook Stats

A friend of mine pointed out this little tidbit that Box shared at Mobile World Congress. During a presentation they mentioned that Box has 500,000 BlackBerry PlayBook app users since they launched in September of 2011. That is 16% of their Tablet users which is pretty impressive. Box is one of the first apps to really make a splash on the PlayBook so its nice to see them seeing a nice uptake.

  1. I grabbed it because they were offering 50GB. I must admit that I really haven’t used it since though. I’d be curious to know how many of the 500K are actively using it.

  2. This seems to jive with the report that 15% of the tablet market in Canada is PlayBook. If this is actually true RIM should get the word out. It would seem to me to be wasteful for app developers to ignore that big of a market share especially if they need to do nothing to port their apps.

People now talk about sideloading Words with Friends. Presumably sideloading is free wouldn’t it be more valuable to offer it in Apple World for. 99. Or even if free boosting your advertising would make it seem worthwhile if you have no extra development costs.

  3. You see Netflix? how would you like to have 500k more users in just a second?

  4. Box is good. still giving 50GB space using a office mail ID. does not provide active syn. in the free version. it should be free
