What Android Apps Have You Sideloaded On Your PlayBook? (My Favorites)

 IMG_00000055 IMG_00000052

We have been able to sideload repackaged Android apps on the PlayBook for awhile now since RIM first started showing us OS 2.0. Now that OS 2.0 is finally officially available for all and there is no reason not to upgrade I thought I would broach this topic. While RIM has been incentivizing developers to port their Android apps to the PlayBook quite a few high profile developers have not jumped at the opportunity. That has lead to a vast network of BlackBerry PlayBook users repackaging Android apps and sharing them with others.

So I thought I would throw it out there. What Android apps have you sideloaded onto your PlayBook? Feel free to share them in the comments!

Personally my favorites so far include:

The apps have had their own bugs that developers will hopefully iron out once they see the interest but survivable. As you can see above has come out as a great source for converted Android BAR files along with the long standing Let us know if you have more sources!

  1. Square and Words with Friends are only ones.

  2. Words with Friends, OverDrive Media Console, and Bible (by YouVersion)

  3. Dilbert, Kindle and ESPN Scorecenter

  4. Web Reader is a pretty good alternative to gReader

  5. 90% of these Android apps suck. So far, Kindle, Google Maps and Dolphin browser are about all I haven’t deleted.

  6. Have you ever checked this site

It has lot of apps/games uploaded. You can download them and sideload them using DDPB.

    Have fun

  7. I don’t know how to download these apps if they’re not in app world. I’d very much like to install dropbox for example. Is there a guide somewhere?

  8. When I first loaded the OS2 beta, I side-loaded a bunch of Android apps. Now that I’m on the official OS2, I don’t have a single one. I generally prefer native apps. I may load some if I can’t find a native app but it will have to be something I know I will use often – possibly OverDrive.

  9. Anyone found any really good Android games? And even though you like the game, would you expect the game to be better if it was native for the PlayBook?

  10. check out justReader as a Google Reader… pretty nice app

  11. Apps – Taptu, Picasa Tool, Amazon Kindle, Dropbox, eBay, Latitude, Pandora, Skyfire, Chrome Browser, ASTRO, Winamp, Google Maps
