BlackBerry theme developers were twiddling their thumbs for awhile when it came to BlackBerry 7 theme development until they found some temporary yet annoying workarounds. RIM claimed the delay in bringing theme builder support for BlackBerry 7 was due to it being broken by their “Liquid Graphics” implementation and promised a fix sometime around now.
Tashanna pointed out to us (via BerryFix) that RIM has confirmed that full details on BlackBerry 7 theme development are coming to the BlackBerry Developers Blog this month. You can check it out for yourself on Twitter from RIM’s @BlackBerryDev account in response to @_Lucky45.
I guess we keep our eyes pealed on devblog.blackberry.com for an update

By the time they get it working it’s going to be irrelevant… Most of the casual themers have left the building long ago.

Sadly you have a point. Many of RIM’s most dedicated fans and theme builders left for iPhone after Alec’s famous tweet hit the blogs a few months back. I still wonder if they simply just didn’t realize how strong the community of theme builders was. A culture was born and quite nearly wiped out over just a weeks time. I know this because I’ve connected with hundreds of theme builders over the last few years and now that list is down to about 30. Hopefully we’ll get some good news from RIM and they’ll begin to come back.
Developers made BlackBerry themes about design and not just Hello Kitty wallpapers. I’ll have my fingers crossed.

iOS has themes?
I have never seen a themed iPhone in the wild
for that matter I have never seen a themed Blackberry in the wild either
Its one of those things I read is popular but never see it
Just like iPads… I read there are 10′s of millions.. but.. I never see them
I have seen maybe…. 2-3 in the last year
