Simple Browser gets updated in both versions to 1.0.6

If you are unfamiliar with Simple Browser, it is a great 3rd party browser for the BlackBerry PlayBook.   If you are looking into an alternative to Browser, head over to AppWorld and try out the FREE version. I would personally recommend buying the paid version, it allows for tabbed browsing,  as well as some customizable features like custom bookmarks.  The paid version can be picked up here for $1.99.

  1. Simple Browser is brilliant and the update has made it even better! I have the paid version and the addition of tabbed browsing and fully editable bookmarks was just what was needed to make it perfect. the native browser is now redundant on my PB!

  2. Simply love this browser! I can emulate different browsers with this app to view the same site differently

  3. Going to have a look at this one

  4. Just tried the free version. Wow! MUCH better than native browser on PB. But am trying to purchase the paid version — following the link in article, but whenI go to purchase (from my PB) it says “unsupported” browser. Can’t complete the transaction. Do I need to purchase from a PC? Help please.

  5. Correction to my message above: says “unsupported operating system” not “unsupported browser”. I’m logging into BB App World from my PB

    • not sure why that message is coming up, i purchased the paid version from App world via my PB, had no issues. hope you get it sorted as the paid version is great!

      • Thanks Michael. I’m bummed that I get that message. No clue what’s going on. What OS do you have on your PB?

      • Mystery solved! It worked just fine when I went back and looked at this posting and link (to purchase) from the “original” browser that came with the PB.

So for anyone trying to purchase, looks like it won’t work unless you go through native PB browser. Yeah!

  6. Thanks Michael — that’s the same OS I have as well. Also looking forward to 2.0 (I think!!??) 🙂

Meanwhile, loving the new browser. Very cool. Just was able to purchase using the native PB browser. Who knew? But maybe this posting might help others.

    Appreciate your message.

    • No worries Nancy. pleased it now working for you, it is a great wee browser! OS2 will be interesting, I was reading on Techradar yesterday that only some Android apps will be available, which doesn’t bother me too much so long as some of the key ones become available, eg, Skype! Would then be able to video call my mates who dont have a PB! And native email will be handy, will be able to add my home email in. Here’s hoping OS2 is the improvement all us loyal PB users are waiting so patiently for!

      • Thanks — wow, I was not aware that we might see a Skype app for PB??!!! That would be a HUGE step forward in my opinion. I agree, as loyal PB users, we have indeed been patient with all of the problems. PB could be such s great tablet. Still hoping. 🙂

        • I’m not positive we’ll get Skype, just bloody hopeful! Whatever happens, the PB is still a great Tablet! Video’s are awesome on it! And with the bridge feature it does everything I need.
