Free Jotsy Document Annotator Public Beta for BlackBerry PlayBook

Jotsy Jotsy Navigation

Jotsy is a very slick document annotator that RIM showed off during the keynote at BlackBerry DevCon Americas a few months ago. It was scheduled to ship with OS 2.0 and is now coming out in a public beta on App World. The app is built on HTML5 and allows you to annotate documents from the PlayBook with their cool interface. You can then synchronize those documents and annotations with your PC. You need the PC app for that which you can find at www.jotsy.com.

You can check out the Jotsy beta in App World free. The premium versions are planned to be coming in Q1 2012 so there should be a few updates by then!

  1. When I installed the PC-Sync component of Jotsy, if didn’t create the desktop shortcut to my sync folder it was supposed to create. After digging around in the install folder I found a properties file that showed the folder to be:

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\Jotsy

If this happens to you, you can just create a shortcut on the desktop yourself to that folder.. Stick PDF docs in there, hit sync on your playbook (must be on same network as PC) and you’ll be annotating in no time.

Thought this might be helpful for someone. Now we just need them to add DropBox support and this would be pretty damn handy!

    • i have jotsy and i have everything i need in my folder to sync up. but i cant find the spot to hover the mouse over to get the ip. i don’t know where to look

  2. When you install and run the PC component, it puts a little icon in your system tray, down on the right end of your start bar. It looks like a light blue speech bubble, like in a comic strip, over a field of gray with a white border. Hover your mouse over that icon on the start bar, by you clock..

  3. I have the jotsy pc component and I have the app on my playbook, but when I type in the IP to sync it I keep getting an error message. Anyone have any suggestions?

  4. I’m having the same trouble, Justino. Very frustrating. It has worked twice, but usually fails and I get that error message.
