New AT&T BlackBerry Shows Up in FCC Docs – Possibly Bold 9790?

 Mystery BlackBerry

You have to love trying to guess what device is coming out from an FCC document. Engadget spotted this latest mystery BlackBerry (model REA71UW) in this FCC filing. The document focuses on the AT&T bands of GSM/EDGE/UMTS on 850Mhz and 1900Mhz that AT&T uses but also clarifies that the device has “GSM/GPRS/EDGE 900/1900 Mhz bands and UMTS band that are not operational in North America.” It also says the device has NFC along with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

In my mind that makes this device either the BlackBerry Bold 9790 or the BlackBerry Curve 9360. I am personally hoping it is the 9790 but what do you think?

  1. It has to be either one as they are the only ones to get NFC at this time. Don’t keep up with AT&T, do they carry a Curve branded device at this time? I know they have the Torches and Bolds.

  2. Probably the Curve, but I hope it is the 9790

  3. battery JM1…. so my guess is 9790

  4. Does Rim have to register the 9790 that it is launching in Indonesia later this month to the FCC in the US first?

I don’t understand that FCC process so I’m trying to ask what happens if the 9790 gets launched in a country other than the US first?
