One of our tipsters let us know about a relatively new PlayBook app called Picasa Sync. The app simply lets you bring the pictures from your online Picasa web albums to your PlayBook. The developer, Daniel Bigham, always wanted to show of his pictures from his PlayBook but never remembered to load them on the device. He created Picasa Sync to keep his PlayBook pics up to date. Sadly it does not have the ability to upload your PlayBook photos back to Picasa but hopefully he is working on that!
The app lets you get the apps that you have on Picasa onto your PlayBook wirelessly or simply only get the pictures you have starred in Picasa so its not downloading the gigabytes of Picasa pictures you have. In other words you can star the nice pictures you want on your PlayBook and have them sync.
Check out Picasa Sync in App World for a very reasonable $0.99

Bought it, love it. Works great and best of all, privacy setting don’t matter. There are some picasa screen saver apps that came before this but you were basically publicly searching your username and streaming your images, where is this app is downloading your picasa images to your PB, private images and all (or only a select few as noted in article). Then view them either in the native photo manager or any one of the slide show apps.

Thanks Daniel.
I can tell you that the App creator – Daniel Bigham is very responsive to questions and will answer any queries that you have.
I have been in chat format with him on CBerry and my guess is that he will also reply to you directly on this forum as well.
Daniel’s also looked into suggestions for future upgrades.

I submitted version 2.0 of Picasa Sync to App World this evening which additionally allows you to select which albums to download. The default is that all albums are selected, so if you want the app to behave as it does now, there’s no additional work, but if you want to deselect albums, you can do that, and the next time you sync, those deselected albums will stay deselected unless you re-select them.

I have to again commend you on a phenomenal product. I know you can file share via wifi but picasa is my preferred online photo storage and this makes it so easy to sync photos to my playbook, no worry about duplicates or individually transferring single photos. Excellent product!

Just bought this and giving it a whirl, any chance version 3.0 can sync from desktop picasa instead of picasaweb?

That was actually my first hope for the program, but Picasa doesn’t have suitable APIs for that.
