Vlingo Now Available Free Compliments of RIM’s Outage Gift

A few readers let us know that RIM has made the next app available as part of their free apps gift in response to their previous outage last month. They have made the popular voice command app Vlingo free for a limited time which is a huge boon considering its $19.99 price tag. It essentially expands the BlackBerry voice commands to be able to control many different parts of the device by saying things like:

  • "Text John; What’s up?"
  • "find Italian restaurants"
  • "update Facebook; I’m on a boat!"

You can pick up Vlingo free in App World here

  1. How come Vlingo charges $19.99, when it is free on Apple and Android platforms?

  2. I’ve been waiting for this one. I hope its worth the wait

  3. Doesn’t seem to work on the Bold 9900. The install works but you can’t complete the setup wizard. It stops on the part where you need to use the newly assigned “vlingo” button to say something.

  4. It does work on my 9700. Just need some “seat time” with it now to see what it can do

  5. This used to work on Wifi 🙁

    I mean, the free/trial version.

    No data plan, no love.

    But thanks nonetheless, RIM

  6. I am truly enjoying using this. I even typed this post using Vlingo

  7. it is a little ironic that RIM gives this app for free just as all current BBs have lost a convenience button that this app needs. I know its not a RIM app BTW.

  8. i cannot get it working on BB 9900 – please help….
