We have seen a few shots here and there of the upcoming BlackBerry Bold 9790 (codename Bellagio). Now thanks to one of our friends we have THIRTY more pictures of the device in all its glory. That includes its NFC connections and the rest of the device aesthetics including comparisons with other current BlackBerry devices. My favorite is how the keys of the keyboard wrap around the device as you can see in the pics below. Its sort of like RIM pealed off the bezel from the device and changed the buttons to raised buttons. Essentially it is a hybrid between the Bold 9900 and the Bold 9700 with buttons and back from the Torch 9850.
What do you guys think of it now?

All these pictures and no comparison side by side with a 9700/9780
Is the 9790 thinner? Looks that way.
If its thinner it could be tempting for my wife

Do we know what US carriers are going to carry this phone? On Verizon and held off on upgrading to the 9930… Should I keep holding off? Will there be a CDMA version of this?

well i see why the buttons are different, they kept the screen and the former “button area” one piece with holes for the buttons.
This versus have the screen and the button area / bar a separate piece…
however i dont see the advantage there is still room for “stuff” (dust, dirty hand smudge) to get into the device.

The individual 4 button design is way better. The buttons aren’t side by side like the 9650 so they are less likely to squeak. They are easier to press than the single plastic piece like on the 9900/torch. Just too bad RIM burned the PB owners so badly, so now I don’t care…

I agree. Everyone is harping on the redesigned buttons, I am going to wait and try out both the 9790 and the 9900, but the buttons certainly should not be a deal breaker for anyone and I think I’ll be able to live with them. Are the raised buttons a little more efficient/accurate? Probably. Are the flat buttons a little more stylish? For most, yeah. A matter of personal preference though…

Main things I am hearing are:
Small, light, very fast along with autofocus camera. Softer keyboard and fast GPS. Main thing is the smaller size.

Personally, I love it. Bold 9900 specs (add autofocus) in a Bold 9700 form except thinner. I’ve always loved the 9700 form, in fact, I held off on getting the 9000 because there were already leaked photos of the 9700. Looks like it might be a repeat all over again. Still on my 9700, haven’t got the 9900, and will likely just wait for the 9790.

I’m looking forward to getting a real life feel of it, because I’m interested in buying this model.
Yeah – I like the idea of the raised keys and want to try them out (I suspect that key stroke accuracy would be improved, I make lots of typos on the 9700 which I attribute to the shape of the keyboard).
It means a new charging pod though, because of the micro usb on the base, and also a new leather pocket, lol.

I like the keyboard wraparound design. Not sure about the nav row though. I was thinking that this could work with a Torch cradle, but it looks like they reversed the USB port. I don’t get it.

Looks like it’ll be about the same size as the 9360.
