We posted up a ton of pictures comparing the upcoming BlackBerry Bold 9790 (codename Bellagio) with the BlackBerry Bold 9900 & 9810 earlier today. Brian pointed out in the comments that we forgot to compare it to the previous generation BlackBerry Bold 9700/9780 series devices in terms of size and design. We asked our tipster to accommodate and they gladly sent over a bunch more pictures comparing the two devices. From what we are hearing the Bold 9790 is much thinner than its predecessor.

Lol Brian, yep I’m a woman, and yep I’m interested!!
Though not sure if one opinion can be extrapolated to the whole of the female population, lol.

Seriously though… I would love someone to do a study of smartphone sales with respect to gender.
I see women predominantly using Blackberries around Toronto.

Ronen, has your contact indicated which countries that this model is going to? (Australia?)
Also, did they have any clues as to outright price?

The 1st row of buttons, I don’t know what to call them, look odd. They just look too small or something.

Ugly yes… but… I am pretty sure I will be picking one of these up to replace my wifes 9700.
Heck… at least it will give me a auto focus camera when I need one lol…

It looks as if the camera are is raised to allow for more space. I guarantee this is how they managed to fit the autofocus in.
I would not have minded in the least if the 9900 had that slight protrusion. It seems to be common in a lot of Andriod phones to have the protrusion to fit the camera. It actually makes it slightly easier to hold as your finger rests against it.
Thats why I actually like the jutting of the headphone jack on the 9900 it actually aids in the gripping.
Ah… I don’t wanna bring up the 9900 lack of autofocus again, but, this 9790 just rehashed it all for me…

The rubbish buttons lack of proper charging contacts and none auto focusing camera have killed this phone for me. Slimmer is not always better. RIM has removed functions to accommodate a thinner form factor mainly make it easier and cheaper for RIM to manufacture is serious backsliding in my opinion.

And you are seriously backsliding in your ability to assess facts.
The 9790 has autofocus.
Charging contacts, farging contacts. So the charging pod will have a USB connector… big whoop…
Buttons are buttons dude….. it will not change your user experience in the slightest negatively.

Looks more like a (new) torch than a bold.
