Foursquare for BlackBerry v3.3 Adds Notification Tray & More

Foursquare notification tray

Foursquare announced a new feature addition for BlackBerry users with their v3.3 launch. The main new feature is the addition of a notification tray which keeps track of quite a few notifications for you. It notifies you of things like friends joining Foursquare or if you share a place on your To-Do list with a friend. Here are the things Foursquare says you will find in the new notification tray:

  • a friend comments on one of your check-ins;
  • there are new comments or photos on a check-in you’ve commented on;
  • your friend does one of the Tips you’ve left;
  • you and a friend both have the same place on your To-Do List;
  • there’s a special deal at a place on your To-Do List;
  • a place you’re at starts swarming;
  • one of your Facebook friends joins foursquare (worlds colliding!); and,
  • you’re ousted as Mayor (boo!).

The new v3.3 also includes some improvements including:

  • You’ll find better setting and account management, so you’ll be able to manage your privacy settings, password, and 3rd party apps – (this one’s for BlackBerry OS 5 and up).
  • We’ve made tons of improvements to GPS and location support.
  • Lots of other small tweaks and fixes!

  1. Wish RIM would find some way to encourage the big name app/service owners – such as Facebook, Foursquare and Yelp – to develop for BlackBerry on par with Android & iOS.
