UberSocial Adding BBM Social Integration to Twitter Client

Update: We just received confirmation from two other beta testers and BerryReview readers that the UberSocial private beta definitely does have BBM Social integration

UberSocial BBM UberSocial BBM 2

The popular UberSocial BlackBerry app looks like it is getting BBM integration soon. Raed pointed out to us a post by BerryArab showing off an upcoming beta version of UberSocial with BBM integration. It seems like it lets you update your BBM status or personal message when you use UberSocial. Kind of cool and definitely a feature I think UberSocial users will appreciate.

What do you think?

  1. This’ll be huge for UberSocial and for #TeamBlackBerry although my wish list for the client still has push mentions at the top of the list.

  2. I’m sorry, but… why?

The problem with RIM making BBM integration so easy is that app makers will be putting it everywhere – even places where it makes no sense. Does it really make sense to use a twitter client to update your BBM status?

[They’ve even got me considering using it in BBSSH to allow transfer of private keys and/or connection definitions to others in your organization — but at least there’s some logical use case there. I really don’t see this one… at least they’re not trying to use the chat feature itself…]

I’m still waiting for UberTwitter to stop inserting their annoying menu everywhere on my BB before I install it again. (Have they enabled that as an option yet? Haven’t checked in a couple of months.)

Focusing more effort on useful features (unified timeline across accounts, better multi-account handling ) and less on jumping onto the newest integration that RIM is offering might be nice to see. I feel like too much of latter is how I ended up with the annoying menu item everywhere in the the first place 馃槈

    • I think it’s more like “why not”. You don’t have to have the apps to connect BBM, so there’s no real downside… People share the stupidest crap across FB/twitter anyways.

    • I completely agree with the menu comment. At one time I had 4 different options for quick tweets on my menu. Never used it. And eventually deleted all the apps that had it.

  3. Twiiter is forbidened in China!

  4. It should be forbidden to a lot of ignorant ppl
