Possible BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 Screenshots Leak – Email, Social, & Android

playbook-os-2-0 playbook-os-2-0-2

Some purported screenshots of a BlackBerry PlayBook running OS 2.0 have surfaced from MaxPDA showing some interesting things. First of all it seems to show that you can use Exchange ActiveSync, IMAP, POP, CalDAV, & CardDAV for mail, calendar, and contacts which is a huge change for RIM. It also shows deep connections with Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. The screenshots also show off an icon for the Android player. Take this all with a grain of salt but this could be very cool. It does make you wonder if the BBM icon shown is native BBM and if it will also include BES integration or it will use a different kind of BES like is rumored for the BlackBerry Colt QNX phone.

Thanks to everyone that sent this in!

  1. Hmmm… Please say it will mark the launch in here…

  2. sometime in September I believe

  3. The need to overhaul BES before they can support BES on the playbook. BES is only designed to allow each user one device.

  4. Crazy… why is this out in Asia lol….

must be out in a fairly wide beta…

if this leak is out now.. should be available by end of sept

  5. I call Bravo Sierra since the same Contact icon is being used for all of the new apps. Additionally, the new icons are not completely in line with the other native BBPlaybook icons. If someone could get a original copy of this image to see if this was photoshopped or not

  6. It could be that it is beta and didnt want everyone to see the new icons. Never know with RIM
