BlackBerry PlayBook First Tablet Certified By Australian Government

RIM’s experience with the government certification process is really shining through recently. They started with the US government FIPS certification and now they have the BlackBerry PlayBook certified by the Defense Signals Directorate for use by Australian Governmental agencies. They have to follow some strict guidelines but according to iTwire RIM is saying this is the first government certified tablet in Australia for use with restricted or protected classified data.

  1. Awesome…I wonder where all those who BASHED the Playbook before it even came out went.

  2. It is wondeful news for rim. The ipad is being rejected by the business community also check this link
People are realizing the value of playbook against the baby o.s. of Ipad.

  3. Great share Augustus. Anybody who have used an iPad for work that involves more then showing pictures will know that the iPad can’t do all that. However with a PB and a secure remote access to your laptop you can do everything your laptop can do with you PB, have the portability of a netbook and the security of BB.

I have never wanted an iPad, not just because it’s an Apple but because it’s too big. It’s only an inch smaller then my smaller laptop with less functionality. I don’t care about all the apps, I don’t want to find them. I just need them on it so I can start working. PB does that, provide you with business oriented apps first.

    • Hi @PB Forever,

Alex from RIM here. You hit the nail on the head! Not only does the PlayBook offer the superior security that government agencies require, it also delivers the functionality and portability to get your work done securely and efficiently thanks to its 7-inch frame and support for true multitasking between applications.

This video from BlackBerry World in May does a nice job of showing the power of the QNX-based PlayBook for business:
