blackberry-bridge-tips-1If you been waiting for the PlayBook OS udpate it looks like is finally rolling out to most people. Mine was at 358 MB but I hear for some is 350 not sure what the difference in size is but we do have the full change log for you thanks to Michael over at the official BlackBerry Blog.

New Features and Changes:

Improved connectivity & productivity with the BlackBerry Bridge application

  • Enhanced Support for Saving Attachments – The BlackBerry® Bridge™ app offers you more flexibility around where and how you save attachments for viewing and editing. You can now save an attachment to a removable SD card, or to your BlackBerry smartphone’s internal flash memory.
  • ZIP Attachment Support – The BlackBerry Bridge app now gives you access to ZIP files received as an email attachment. While bridged, you can now download a zip file from an email to your smartphone SD card and then extract compressed contents for viewing or editing on your BlackBerry PlayBook tablet.

Additional Multimedia Features

  • Portrait Support in Pictures App – With BlackBerry Tablet OS v1.0.7, pictures that you’ve taken with your BlackBerry PlayBook tablet or transferred from your PC can now be viewed in either portrait or landscape formats for the layout that best fits your needs.
  • Pinch to Zoom in Video App – Use the pinch gesture to zoom in on the finer details of your favorite video content, just like you would with a website or picture today – all while the video continues to play.

  1. Mine was 354mb

  2. Also observed:
    * Browser tabs playing music now continue to do so even when those tabs are in the background, even when the device is asleep, and even when the device is not in Showcase mode.

    * Web pages using javascript for network connections seem to continue running even when in background tabs, and even when the device is asleep. More testing is needed here though.

    • I’m trying to get 2 videos to play simultaniously, ie browser + video app, like the old os.. But now, can’t..

  3. BlackBerry Bridge no longer works after update of PlayBook and update of Bridge 🙁

  4. Browser now allows for choice of search engine and to reopen tabs if browser closes unexpectdly

  5. I can finally open pictures on my phone through the bridge.

  6. Now i got it downloaded I’m checking out those features and for anything else new. 😀

  7. It appears RIM has yanked the OS update… New one coming?

  8. Google+ works much better after that update 🙂

  9. feels a bit slow sometimes and keyboard pop up sluggish at times…could that be a symptom withany new OS installed at first? time will tell.
Oh, no Arabic support yet 🙁

  10. These are the changes that I have noticed in PlayBook upgrade:

    1. Blackberry Bridge browser more responsive and faster – loads flash sites faster.

    2. Keyboard more responsive (still no autocorrect).

    3. Can pinch and zoom video.

  11. Another new feature: better control over cursor position in the address bar of the browser. Maybe other places too… no longer is it hard to position exactly between two letters.

  12. This update is sweet for WebWorks dev. It brings some much needed fixes to the browser.
Hopefully it didn’t introduce too many bugs 🙂

  13. I have the 2 problems
    BB bridge
    PB OS

    1. the time on configuration is correct, but the one showed on the top, is different (1 hour late)

    2. I’m not able to open pics from my phone, all documents (pdf, doc, xls) no problem, only pics get stuck.
