BIS 4.1 Feature Set Leaked – Rollout in September/October

BIS-41-1 BIS-41-3

Wow BIS is finally getting a significant feature bump with v4.1. The team at N4BB managed to score slides detailing all of the features coming in BIS 4.1 along with rollout dates. Some of the features are also BlackBerry OS 7.0 specific which should be launching around the same time. According to their sources BIS 4.1 will be rolling out to Asia Pacific on Sept 10th, Europe on Sept 23rd, and North America on October 8th.

I am really excited about the new features including my favorite which is email inbox priming. That is a feature that has been available on BES servers for awhile giving you access to your last chunk of emails. With BIS 4.1 it will preload the most recent 20 emails so you will have conversations on your device preloaded. There are loads of other goodies including better account management and message improvements for OS 7.0 so check them out in the slides!

  1. To say I’m ‘excited’ about this is an understatement…. Lol I am actually kinda turned on!

    • OMG Ashley I didn’t just read that lol really would love to see what will happen on the next update lol……

  2. Can’t wait to get it

  3. This is a really great improvement on the BIS. The updates on the BIS 4.1 are simply amazing its always great to see these update coz it show how much better the company is becoming and working hard to please their customers. I also notice a lot of stuff is happening in the month of october for RIM if they all happen in october as stated its gonna be a awesome Berry Christmas 🙂

  4. Keep going RIM don’t take your feet off the gas

  5. I’m on BES but my situation is a little unique. Since I am at a university they really don’t “manage” oir phones. I pay to be on BES and I wonder if it is any better than BIS does anyone know? I can actually see it being worse potentially since it lacks some features like blackberry protect, are there any advantages to be on BES over BIS? Thanks

  6. You would have to bing that cause they both have similarities and both lack in certain areas

  7. You all kidding?! Nothing outstanding there to long for. Not to say they are restricting to OS7 things they could clearly do for OS6 (limits).

  8. Why isit earlier to asia pacific then N america?

  9. This all looks good, but the change I keep waiting for is support for IMAP folders.
