BlackBerry News Feeds Updated to v1.0.1.7 OTA Links Provided

154642I have to be honest every time I see an update come out for this application I get excited hopping they added my favorite features but like usual I am disappointed. The application is decent but it lacks some features that I really miss from VIIGO.  Not sure what is new on this release but I can sure tell you what it lacks.

Lacks support for Google Reader,  you cannot select or highlight multiple feeds to delete or to mark the ones you highlight as read. Another thing that really annoys me is having to open the browser to read feeds that have a break on them.  I could go on on the things this application lacks but on the bright side it has a really clean UI.

The application is not showing on my side as being updated through app world, thanks to @rr_yy we have some OTA links for you for OS 6 and OS 5.

  1. Exactly no changes! Even nothin’ in BlackBerry Beta Zone also. They dont make surveys or anything. Just minor updates which we cant see or just version numbers…

  2. Identical to the previous version… I agree… I see none of the major issues have even been touched.. Wth?!?!!!! Why update if u ya aren’t gonna fix what ppl complain about?

  3. In BlackBerry App World, this app shows as only available for US and Canada users. Having these OTA links has enabled me to download the app in the UK.

    Brilliant Luis – cheers!

  4. I’m only getting 907 error – invalid COD trying to get the os6 newsreader….

    Anyone with another link?

  5. If you don’t see the update in App World, do an ALT-R-S-T while in MyWorld to reset App World. That’s how I got it to show up.

  6. It looks like they’ve improved the touch interface. I used to get the popup menu when I just touched a feed. Now it opens the feed. To get the popup menu I have to touch and hold briefly. It’s a lot easier to get around without the track pad now.

  7. I agree completely. This is at best a weak second to what Viggo offered. I liked the weather tool with mutiple city options, the flight checlking component and so much more. I hate, really hate that RIM decided to buy and kill one of the best BB apps from the OS 5 days.

  8. Any help with how i can install this on my blackberry torch in the uk. cant seem to get it working. i would really appreciate it

  9. It looks like this version got a lot of Touch love. You can swipe left or right while in a feed to go to the previous/next feed.

I must agree that I miss Viigo too. Hopefully they will try to include some of the better features from Viigo in future releases.

  10. Never ever great changes :(
