BlackBerry Bridge Desktop Install Files Found Online

When RIM released the desktop install files for BlackBerry Bridge last week we thought RIM had finally grown a backbone and stood up to AT&T. They have to release these desktop install files because that is the only way for administrators to deploy Bridge to devices over their BES server. Sadly it looks like RIM caved yet again to AT&T and took down the install files that used to be here.

One of our kind tipsters sent us a link to the files that RIM was providing before for all to download. Something tells me these will also eventually be taken down but we can only hope that kind souls will continue to keep them alive:

Download BlackBerry Bridge v1.0.0.83 Desktop Install files at:

I think this whole back and forth is ridiculous on RIM’s part because companies cannot rely on App World to deploy PlayBooks and roll out the BlackBerry Bridge app especially if their IT Policy blocks App World. Even RIM realizes what a cop out it is by only mentioning App World as a place to install Bridge in their Knowledge Base and telling admins that:

If the BlackBerry Bridge needs to be deployed using the BlackBerry Enterprise Server please contact BlackBerry Technical Support and reference this Knowledge base Article (KB26554)

  1. I haven’t been able to USE the Bridge yet. It installs, connects to the PlayBook, but as soon as I touch anything associated with the Bridge, I get a flash of a dialog box and then a “Wrong Password” prompt with an OK button, but clicking OK does nothing and I have to reboot the PlayBook (BlackBerry Bold running OS 5).

I just noticed that the ALX in this download has 12 .COD files for OS5, but the JAD file for the OTA download that’s been widely published – – has only 11 .COD files listed. I won’t be able to try anything until this evening, but does anyone know where the JAD files came from and why there’s a file missing from the listing (net_rim_bb_upgrade_util.cod)?

  2. thak so cool

  3. This is just Saad RIM…:(

  4. I have T-Mobile, this must be an AT&T only thing. I’m glad I’m not with those thives!
