While I am still waiting for LogMeIn to bring their remote desktop app to the BlackBerry PlayBook until then we have a solution. aVNC by AiFlex is a relatively cheap ($2.99) remote desktop solution that works with the very popular VNC protocol to let you connect to practically any machine. That means you can use your BlackBerry PlayBook to remotely control any of your machines running VNC.

  1. It looks like a good product. I’ve had some issues getting it to work with RealVNC over non-standard ports. The good news is Will was working with me till 2AM UK time to try and get it working. We are going to try again during some more reasonable hours today. VERY pleased with the support. This level of support has really made me want RIM to get aMail approved. I’ll be one of the first to try it.

  2. wow, didn’t even think about the Playbook having these capabilities. Opens up a whole new realm of possibilities for use.

  3. Does anybody have any luck yet with new build. I’m still out of luck getting mine to work

  4. i can get this to work while in my home but as soon as i try to use it outside of my home it wont connect. any ideas

  5. Yes Hello Good Morning,

I am very interested in your app for the Blackberry playbook aVNC. Seems quite interesting. When the aVNC app is downloaded onto the Blackberry playbook, which software would be downloaded onto the main server or a normal PC or even a laptop so it will recognize the connecting playbook?

Another question, I currently do not have access to a Blackberry playbook. Is there any other way where I could test this software with another device? say my laptop to remotely access the main server?
