Screenshots of Poynt “Send to Phone” Feature for PlayBook App

One of the areas that RIM has not yet opened up for developers is the ability to send information from the BlackBerry PlayBook to your BlackBerry phone. I know for a fact that RIM is working on a way for developers to do this and have heard rumors that they have been considering using your BlackBerry ID, PIN, Push Alert, Bridge, and other ways.

Until then Poynt is working on bypassing that limitation by creating their own “Send to Phone” feature. With this feature you will be able to use Poynt on your BlackBerry PlayBook and send an actionable alert to your BlackBerry phone. The feature uses RIM’s Push API to send the alert and will be used to allow you to call, add a number to your address book, and use the directions feature on your phone.

Cool right?

  1. For the life of me I still can’t get the GPS to work on Poynt on the PB. Just says it can’t locate. Does it work over WIFI or do I need to be tethered to BB?

    Anyone else have this issue?

I have updated it as well so I know its not the issue.

  2. Ronen any idea when the features you are talking about will be available?

  3. The possibilities of the BlackBerry Bridge are endless. Imagine being able to use your PlayBook as a larger extension of your BlackBerry to transfer data and information, initiate phone calls and use your BlackBerry apps. PS ATT: please stop blocking the Bridge, its bad for business.
