You may not notice very many visible changes between BBM 5.0 and BBM 6.0 at this time, but stay tuned! For now, here are a few new things you might notice in this version:

  • Updated BBM branding
  • More “snappy” and responsive feel
  • Any alerts set for SMS contacts are now preserved in BBM once SMS contact is integrated with BBM
  • Visual distinction of message drafts vs. sent messages
  • “Invite a Text Messaging Contact” — easier to search contacts
  • Location Search — you can now search for a location before sending, similar to the Location Search experience via SMS
  • Location Sending — you can now detect location with cell tower triangulation or GPS
  • Appointment Sending – sending appointment or calendar events is now a similar experience to that of sending appointment via SMS

  1. It is snappier. I’ve been running it for about 2 months. Still the same old look and feel.

  8. WARNING! I do not recommend. I try all the betas and the leaks, and this one worries me. After installing the new BBM I rebooted, and now I get “Uncaught exception: ApplicationRegistry.waitFor (0x70170be9d2fc292) timeout” and “Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointException” when I start up. Also there is no BBM, no AppWorld, and all my BES and BIS email inboxes are empty. I had BBM before, and have 9650/

  9. This would put us about a month away from the wide release of BBM 6.0

Along with this will come BBM for Bridge and the BBM SDK for third party applications, both which are very exciting…
