Since RIM is rolling out the new BlackBerry PlayBook OS 1.0.1.1705 you may need to perform the trick we just mentioned to force an update through Desktop Manager. There is no word on what specifically this new OS update brings but let us know in the comments. I am loving the fact that RIM is making the PlayBook a living device with constant improvements out the gate instead of waiting months or even a year between updates like other platforms.
Let us know if you spot anything new in this update! Thanks to everyone who sent this in! Thx to BBSync for the screenshot.

Trying to get it as I type doing the DM trick. Here’s hoping it fixes a few of the issues.

Newcomer did you have to force it one your Playbook. Not sure I want to do that. Worried something might go wrong.

I assume by newcomer you mean me… Do I call you enthusiast…..
Yes I forced it using the system that has been laid out on multiple sites. Worked 100% as advertised. I backed up everything and the restore went perfect.

I thought Addict must be above Enthusiast so I just thought your name was Newcomer and you were indeed an “Addict level” Blackberry Black-belt!

1705 is so ‘yesterday’ – today, via WiFi or via Desktop Manager you can download 1710 – and all without that magic trick which requires a backup/restore.
Enjoy.
It’s 23:50 and I’m half way through the update – all’s smooth.

… further to the above… even via Desktop Manager it was all of a 20 minute effort.
… and there’s no “.debrick” at the end of the file name for the OS image.
