Twitter for BlackBerry v1.1 Announced – Can You Find It?

Twitter for BlackBerry v1.1 has been in the Beta Zone since March but it looks like it is coming for public consumption today. One of the administrators on the official BlackBerry forums put up an announcement today for the new version of Twitter. I tried the usual links at and in App World and they are still showing version 1.0 so let us know if you spot the new version.

Here is what is new in version 1.1 of Twitter for BlackBerry:

Tweet Location

  • Geotagging functionality on Twitter for BlackBerry smartphones is designed to allow BlackBerry smartphone users to add their location to their Tweets. Users can switch location on/off before each tweet.

Push @Mentions

  • Users can receive immediate notifications, using BlackBerry Push technology, when they are mentioned by another Twitter user. Users can control whether they want to be notified when anyone mentions them or just when their followers mention them.

Chat-Style Messages

  • Direct Messages has been renamed to Messages to align with the Twitter experience and the interface has been updated to a chat-style layout.

#Topic Autocomplete

  • The #Topic Autocomplete feature is designed to pop up a list of keywords based on previous hashtagged words in Tweets, Retweets, any hashtagged words selected or searched for in Popular Topics, and in applications like Facebook® for BlackBerry smartphones.

Retweet Updates

  • Retweets now appear in the Home timeline with a tag of “Retweeted by you” quickly alerting users that their retweet has gone through.

New gesture support

  • BlackBerry smartphone users with a touch screen device can now refresh page content by simply dragging a finger down the device screen and releasing it.

New Language Support

  • Twitter for BlackBerry smartphones 1.1 is now available in Czech, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Thai, and Polish.

  1. not yet.. i got it from the Beta zone

  2. got it from appworld desktop. Not showed in appworld bb

  3. I still have the beta version. Usually if you have that you are good as they never make any changes to the release version. They just clean it up, remove the keycode requirement and update the version number. Nothing special.

  4. It’s there for me on the desktop App World, and it’s version, which is an update from the last version available from Beta Zone. There were still a couple bugs present in the last beta that I hope they’ve corrected. Restarting now…

  5. Im in the UK and I have it in app world . Its showing version and 1.3mb.

  6. Why I always wait 24 hours between seeing an update get approved in AppWorld, and actually telling anyone about it.

  7. Its been a pretty solid version of Twitter. Now if they could only add a feature so that it will open the last read tweet so that I don’t have to read all the tweets in reverse order

  8. I got it from AppWorld via the web portal via my PC and the USB cable.

  9. It’s in the App world on my berry

  10. still not showing for me

  11. Awful, awful release on Storm2 – much worse than even the last beta version was. Tons of lag, random freezes, errors when retrieving lists, and when you refresh it’s always a crapshoot which tweets and from when will show up. Fail. Back to UberSocial.

  12. It finally showed up in App World this morning after performing another cache reset.
