The excitement is starting to really build up for RIM’s upcoming lineup of BlackBerry OS 6.1 devices. We have seen quite a few leaks about these devices over the last few months including a picture of the Bold Touch from back in February. BGR managed to score some more hands on pictures of the BlackBerry Bold Touch 9930 which will be a hybrid device with both a keyboard and touchscreen. It also includes a new battery which will probably be needed for the 1.2Ghz processor it is packing along with a 640×480 screen 2.8 inch screen and 768MB of RAM. Check out the pics and let us know what you think!

  1. now i don’t now what to do there are coming to many good devices

  2. Looks like the wait for new product from RIM may bare fruit, both this and the “Touch” look sexy/cool and that is not something I would say about the current BlackBerry line up.

  3. How does the size of this compare with the Bold 9000? Is it the same width? The Bold 9000 had the BEST keyboard.

  4. Although I have to say that I am more interested in the new Torch. Even though the keyboard isn’t as good on the Torch as it was on the the Bold 9000, I really appreciate the bigger screen.

    • The only way I would even consider keeping with the Torch would be if they managed to put a Bold 9700 keyboard under the screen. The current keyboard works OK, but it doesn’t have a premium look or feel. I also hope Torch 2 is thinner than the current Torch, but really I think I’m going to this Bold Touch no matter what. With the Playbook I just don’t think I’ll be playing with my phone as much anyhow.

  5. I hope my torch doesn’t find out I have a crush on her cousin. Instead of sliding her up and down, i can just slide my finger(thumb) up and down without having to slide her open. Don’t get me wrong she love being sled open, my thumbs are tired of hitting her in the bully every time I hit the top row of buttons. LOL I see you in my future 9930 and we will get along together, but for now I will dream of you.

  6. This BB looks solid. I’m digging the carbon fiber back and huge battery. The wifi hot spot could be super useful too.

  7. …but will this be upgradeable to the qnx os next year?

    • I have no idea, but I wouldn’t count on it. When purchasing one of these devices its best to assume that you’ll only get in version updates. If you do happen to get an upgrade to a new OS version you should consider it a bonus. Also, “older” Blackberry devices often don’t work quite so well with new versions of the OS as a newer device launched with that new OS would work. This has been my experience with OS 6 on the Bold 9650. It doesn’t work as well as OS 6 on the Torch.

    • with a 1.2GHz processor why not, i believe it will, like the last 3yrs as a Mets fan I believe lol OS7 compatible

  8. what are holes at the base of the battery door cover for?

  9. Cool

  10. So, will you be able to use Bold Touch as a WWAN router for PlayBook browsing, instead of tethering over BlueTooth?

  11. It’s a shame why they have to go back to the old bold design. Just looking at it makes the thing feel old. I wish they would have done it differently.

    • I don’t see anything wrong with building on a design concept that has been a big success in the past. Good design is timeless.

  12. What are the specs on the Battery? The Torch 2 has a 1300, which I think is too low.

  13. would love a cdma of this

  14. Isn’t the sides suppose to be forged, machined stainless brushed steel? from the look of these new pics (maybe the lighting?) they look black, but then the side view up lined up with an iphone? you clearly see it’s stainless brush steel framed? what gives?

  15. digg dis fone, Pls i need it asap!
