LiveProfile Overwhelmed with BlackBerry Users – Updated to v1.0.4

UPDATE: LiveProfile has been updated to v1.0.4 overnight. Thanks Bla1ze for pointing that out!

Many of our readers let us know that LiveProfile is getting inundated with BlackBerry users now that they have opened up compatibility. From what I have seen their cross platform messenger is nothing amazing but does have a nicer visual polish compared to the others. They are currently performing “major emergency upgrades” since their system has hit capacity.  According to their blog they saw 277,341 new users yesterday which is impressive.

They are taking the necessary steps to bring things back down to normal but have suspended downloads for the BlackBerry client a few times. They have also released a new version 1.0.2 of the LiveProfile for BlackBerry app. This new version patches bugs including the profile pictures, notification bugs, speed increases, stability improvements, and more. They have fixed the profile pictures the “update appears to be complicated” whatever that means. According to LiveProfile you need to perform these steps to update your profile:

Click on photos, click up until you see media card and device memory, go to media card -> BlackBerry -> Pictures (scroll down a bit) and now you should see your pictures.

  1. It’s now @ v1.0.4

  2. Damn Bla1ze…..ur too quick! I was gonna say that. Lol.

  3. Wow.. they are working hard!

  4. Nice, the UI is certainly better than some that I’ve used previously.

  5. Think RIM will go after them like they did KiK?

  6. I hope RIM doesnt go after them. A little bit of healthy competition.

  7. The Crackberry team (Blaze) always seems to overplay negative news about RIM, but having just been defending them in the other post, I am getting the feeling they’ve gotten caught flatfooted again.

They say they are “thinking about putting BBM on other phones” They are “updating BBM” but the truth is they’ve actually done nothing with the UI. People nowadays including sadly many BB users will give up anything for a good UI.

What I mean is even if BBM has many better features people will STILL switch if the alternative is functional and looks better.

Meanwhile we wait for OS6.1 which will come out in the summer, and the carriers will make sure older phones don’t get updated (even if technically possible) for at least another year.

I’m disappointed that one of the things that makes owning a BB unique seems like it’s falling away.

  8. Nice to see that we can push development so hard!
