LiveProfile has been released for BlackBerry today. It is an IM app for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry devices. It is totally free and looks quite similar to BBM. I haven’t had a chance to test it much yet, but as you can see from the twitter feed below, the “reviews” are mixed so far.
LiveProfile also professes to be “more than just a messenger” due to features like: profiles, pictures, status messages, and much more.
Keep reading for download info and screenshots.
Pick up LiveProfile directly from your BB browser at www.liveprofile.com/get.
I like this Add Friends feature which you can allow LiveProfile to scan your address book or find Facebook friends. After you sign up, you are given a unique PIN that you can use to add friends as well. I’ve heard QR codes work for that too. ![]()
That icon looks very familiar…
Let us know what your initial thoughts are on this app. Does it compare to BBM? Is it..dare I say…better?

I guess this is why RIM will release BBM for the other two guys. I’ll wait until then.

Gotta add that I still love the look of the Bold compared to those two other phones. Once I get the playbook I think I’m going to dump my Torch and go to the Bold Touch. Keys are cool flat glass is just getting boring for a phone. IMO

The two people I chat with the mist have both just left BlackBerry. One went iPhone and the other went Android. So here’s yet another one to try after not liking the BlackBerry client for PingChat or Cnectd and the Yahoo Messenger client for iPhone is garbage.

Will this have the same issue with RIM like KIK had.

It is odd that RIM only went after KIK and has left all this others alone. If I can remember correctly KIK did things a bit differently from this other apps who use the phone # as a pin or issue a different PIN. So I don’t see it happening to them but I could be wrong.

Working pretty good actually. I can’t see groups anywhere which is one of my favourite bbm features.

Here’s what they had to say on their twitter feed, “New BlackBerry downloads have been temporarily disabled. Upgrading infrastructure to handle this insane growth! Back in a few
”
The next tweet asked for 5 BB beta testers. Not sure why they asked for 5 if it is supposed to be a public beta. Strange.

Man its frustrating to see companies constantly launch a new platform build without planning ahead for the growth.

I know for a fact that they did plan for a lot of growth, albeit not quite as large as what was seen. I’ve been told some very large numbers (hundreds of thousands).

Man this app still needs a lot of work if they want compare to bbm. So far I have noticced the following problems.
1. Does not do a full profile scan
2. It won’t log you on twitter or facebook
3. Bug #2 means you can’t even post anything on twitter/facebook
