BlackBerry OS 6 Video Camera Scene Modes and Image Stabilization

Video Settings Video Settings2

One of the features RIM snuck into BlackBerry 6 was improving the video camera options along with the regular camera. While the camera has some easy to select scene modes the video camera hides them in the options menu for some reason. It also has image stabilization off by default on mine. I found the close up scene was really good for taking a video of another BlackBerry screen or a product you are going to put on eBay. The image stabilization is also a nice touch and sometimes results in better videos at events like marathons.

Thanks to nah.uhh for pointing out the tip!

  1. Is that an option on the Bold 9700 OS 6 and Torch??? :-O

  2. nice features, makes me want to upgrade to 6.0

  3. Is this just for video or for photos as well?

  4. I don’t have these options on my Bold 9700 running OS 6. :(

  5. These options must only be for the 5 meg camera devices only.

  6. Yes I love the image stabilization in the Torch. A drastic improvement in picture quality.

  7. Oddly, the options on my Torch (.450) are only:
    Digital Zoom
    Picture Review
    Image Size
    Storage

  8. I also don’t have those options – 9700 os 6 build 499

    • I don’t think any of them has TRUE IS (image stabilization) due to the small size of the lens…really small size. Makes me wonder if it’s an intelligent crop mode instead…

  9. The options are not under the “options” section of your camera. When you are in the camera mode, you select on the menu key and “scene modes is in the main menu list.
