BlackBerry Traffic Gets “Improved Performance” in v1.3.3.14

BlackBerry Traffic Update

RIM has pushed an update to their BlackBerry Traffic app bringing it to v1.3.3.14 this week. According to the description this version brings “Improved performance” whatever that means. I don’t remember users complaining about bad performance before but its nice to see RIM keep up active development on the project.

You can pick up the updated BlackBerry Traffic app at this link in App World

Thanks Frank & DavidB for the tip!

  1. I hope “improved performance” means its direct route recommendation won’t keep sending me down a local road that even while it IS more direct and saves a couple miles it adds more than 15 minutes. We really need a “fastest route” option in Traffic, based on it’s real time knowledge. One that constantly updates based on conditions and perhaps even speaks to me to say its modified the route due to conditions. Then it would be REALLY useful.

THEN, start including it on all devices and marketing it as a device feature! Carrier TBT offerings be damned…come on RIM grow some stones! You got great stuff like Traffic that you’re letting the carriers hold you down.

    • Sir, you took the words straight out of my mouth. I uninstalled Traffic because the whole raison d’étre of the program is to save time. In my case it sends me down residential streets with stop signs every half mile and low priority on stop lights. It needs a “fastest route” option based on avg speed as well as instant traffic conditions.

  2. Thanks for the heads up guys!

These staggered App World updates are getting a little frustrating. Is there any order or organization to who gets which updates first? I realize its a cache issue, but its a little ridiculous especially considering RIM’s “real-time notifications.”

I’d like to see what kind of performance improvements have been implemented but I might have to wait up to 7 days.

  3. I have yet to find any use for this. Because there’s not yet traffic data in my country. LOL

  4. I am in the same boat…No such thing as traffic in my small town. But usefull when I am traveling though.
