This has been a busy week in BlackBerry news, yesterday we saw the first video of the BlackBerry Monaco and now the N4BB has brought us some live images of the Touch QWERTY combo code name Dakota/Montana. This are better than the usual blurry pictures we get for leaks. The devices looks beautiful in my opinion the exact devices most of us have been asking for this past two years. From the pictures you can tell the device sports an all metal silver frame.
With this new device the first image shows a digital compass and N4BB says the touch screen experience is better than that of the Torch 9800. So far we know that Verizon and T-Mobile will be getting this device, and we expect RIM to announce them at this years BB World Congress. T-Mobile will likely launch the device around July if not earlier.
From one of the screenshots you can tell the following features:
- Screen 640×480 Pixels
- Colors: 65536 (16bit)
- Resolution: 11363×11363 ppm (px/m)
Other specifications:
-

- Dakota / GSM: Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE; Tri Band UMTS
- Display: 2.8″ diagonol – VGA 640 x 480, resolution 287dpi

Oh man! Now that I see live pics of this beauty I’m feeling quite a bit better about having to wait for QNX smartphone integration. Looks amazing!

Battery is J-M1. I want specs on that. Looks like the size of the D-X1 in the 9630/9650 but how much more juice does it hold?

If you are such a hater what are you doing looking at the phone?
Stick to your carefully controlled iCrap device and climb up further Steve’s secret passage…

Out of business?
Their stock has been upgraded to Buy and they’re running profits every quarter.
I don’t think you really know what the term “going out of business” means.

Agreed, I think they’re pretty far from going out of business.

Great thing about Blackberry though is, I’ve got options. Different devices to choose from. I’m sorry you don’t have that as an Apple user.

I do not have an apple phone.
I am stuck with an old crappy bb tour. The morons at RIM aren’t playing too nice with Verizon right now. They went exclusive on the Torch (the only thing close to a modern phone they have) with ATT (rated the worst cell phone carrier in the US)
The latest high tech offering they have is some equally crappy Curve or something ridiculous like it.
Nice that their stock is soaring. You should buy a ton of it. I just noticed that their market share dropped from 19% in 2009 to 16% in 2010.
It WILL drop more in 2011.
Better buy more stock!!!

Did any body notice the glowing edges around the trackpad?
I really like that because in the dark, you have no idea where that trackpad is, it’s just too small and very smooth to identify the edges.
The screen ratio is like a VGA screen which is 4x the old screen which means it’s more square like than wide screen…interesting.

yes I can’t wait to pay $500 in order to get a LED around the trackpad and a touch screen! No wonder what RIM engineers have been so busy with for these past couple years.

Lol, that’s just part of it. The OS 6.1 and the extended memory and getting a clear and sharp screen that is a touch isn’t something old news you know.
We’ll wait and see.

Yeah, that battery better live up to the device’s specs. The TOUR battery life was terrible….

@fubaz,
RIM has said clearly a QNX OS for smartphone will require dual core CPU. None of the 2011 devices leaked have dual core. I think chances are near zero RIM will change that and make a QNX for any of them.

This is definately my next smartphone seeing that RIM will not be upgrading the Storm 2 to OS 6. I also like the mobile hotspot feature and the proccessor.

I am happy for all Bold users… this is an amazing phone… can’t wait to see the others… it seems as if all rumors and leaks are accurate… unlike Apples ”rumored ipad” at its launch… i say no more.. i don’t want Steve Jobs at my door

In my opinion, I really like the looks of 9780 and 9700 better. Not only that, but the glowing edges on the trackpad is ugly. I am upgrading to the bold 9700.

I agree, give me a QNX 9700! If not, I guess I could settle for a dakota…

Settle for a Dakota? That phone is very nice. I don’t know if settle would be the right word for it. I’ll admit that the 9700 is a sexy beast, but settle? I just can’t agree with that.
