T-Mobile “See BlackBerry Different” Event Highlights New Touch Screen BlackBerry Devices & The PlayBook

t-mobile-logoblackberryroadmap20115_thumbEarlier this month we mentioned a T-Mobile employee event title “See BlackBerry Different” that left us with quite a few questions. Ronen mention that it would be about the PlayBook. Our friends over at PocketBerry have the inside scoop on the event which turns out to be about both the PlayBook and a new line of BlackBerry devices.

At the event T-Mobile had the PlayBook on hand for employees to play with. T-Mobile will be carrying the Wi-Fi only at the moment. Hopefully they will be getting a 4G version later this year.

The best part and new information from the event is the fact that T-Mobile will finally be getting a touch screen BlackBerry. It looks like the BlackBerry storm 3 will be headed to T-Mobile late this spring with the exact same specs we seen in previous leaked slides with T-Mobile flavor added to it.

They also mentioned other devices with touch screen and full QWERTY but did not mention the specifications or the name of the devices. This leads us to believe that it will be the Montana and a basic upgrade to the curve line of  devices we have already seen in the leaked roadmap for 2011.

According to the tipster the event highlighted more on statistics about BBM, and a website where employees can participate to win prizes. Another event is scheduled for tomorrow in NY so hopefully we will have more solid news for you.

All of this lines up quite well with some other rumors we have been hearing from our sources, which is nice to see that not all carriers are giving RIM the cold shoulder and if this holds up we may finally see the end  of Verizon’s exclusive to the storm line here in the U.S.

  1. I love T-Mo, so this is great to hear. Back when I joined T-Mo for the 8320 the day it was released it seemed the two were well matched for each other. Hope it stays that way.

    • My first BB was with tmo I can’t even remember the model # now but i think it was at 72xx long time ago. It’s nice to see this devices dated for this spring now at the end of the year which I hope the dates hold out.

  2. So cool that T-Mobile did this. I wish Sprint would something like this.

  3. Oh this would be great news for T-Mobile. We def need a Touchscreen BB in the line up.

    Can’t wait.

  4. Very good news that these rumored devices are for real and that carriers are supporting them

  5. You’d think that with the “underwhelming” sales of the new Verizon Iphone, they might want to reconsider their strategy of turning their backs on BlackBerry.

  6. YAY! So glad! I am a T-Mo supporter and BB user! Good times, good times ahead. Now if I only had the money to get the new stuff! 🙂

  7. I might consider staying with T-Mobile now if they only would get 3G in my area. EDGE just doesn’t cut it when I have to watch Verizon, Sprint and ATT customers in my town with blazing data speeds.

  8. I am also a T-Mobile customer and still with my God awful Pearl Flip 8220. I still like the overall platform but the memory and processor kills.

I just hope the Dakota will show up on T-Mobile because I am just waiting for that device.

  9. I wonder if these new phones will be running 6.1 OS or QNX?

  10. i love the storm2, i have one, but i wont be getting the storm3 or what ever its called… i hate it
