BlackBerry Bold 9700 OS Found Online

9700Here is a new build of OS 6 for the 9700, the latest leak  is v6.0.0.461. It has only been a few weeks since the last leak but hopefully this one fixes some of the issues found in the last build. You can download the files from the following links:

No word on what is new or fixed with this version so if you do install and find something let us know in the comments below.

This OS will not install on any other BlackBerry besides the one mentioned above and is not an official release. If you do not know how to upgrade your BlackBerry OS please start by reading this step by step guide.Don’t forget to delete the vendor.xml file located in c:program files>common files>research in motion>apploader to install it on a different carriers device. Don’t forget our usual warnings: do not download and install these updates if you don’t know what you’re doing. Incorrect procedure or just bad luck could render your BlackBerry inoperative or unstable. Thanks Tashana for the tip.

  1. I know a couple of 9700 users that are going to be very happy.

    • I don’t get the hype about an OS that doesn’t work well but looks nice on the 9700. I had it for a while until I got fed up with the limited number of pictures I could have and the apps I had to remove and the restarts to clean up the internal memory.
I like OS 6 don’t get me wrong, but the 9700 wasn’t built for it :-(

  2. Hopefully the scroll bug and slight memory leak is fixed 😀

  3. My gf says it seems to run much smoother

  4. quite a big jump from 448.. i’ll wait to see what others say, my 9700 is running nicely as is

  5. Memory leak still seems to be there for me. Still loosing 2 meg a day. Only lost .5 meg with .448. Otherwise, seems ok.

  6. I’m still getting Error 10000 on app world after installing 6 on my 9700. Could this be why? Anyone else having this issue

  7. anyone tried it yet? tell me how it works out 😉

  8. I’ve tried all leaked versions so far and think that the benefits outweigh the negatives by far. I’m not bothered by moderate memory leaks, since I reset my phone at least once a day.

  9. This is the best performance OS6 ive ran on my 9700.

The memory leak isnt too bad and the battery life is awesome

GPS locates faster and the browser renders faster.

average boot is 178 seconds for me.

    • I second that. I’m running a shrunk hybrid based on 461. Boot time 75 seconds. Browser is fastest I’ve ever seen. It’s very stable, although it still crashes on some pages.
