Flash 10.2 Video Improvements Coming to BlackBerry PlayBook

 Stage Video

So far we know that Flash v10.1 will be shipping on the BlackBerry PlayBook but Adobe is already talking about Flash 10.2. Thanks to their latest announcement we know that the new Flash Player 10.2 will be coming to the BlackBerry PlayBook in the future. This new version is supposed to bring some serious improvements to the Flash platform including a new feature called Stage Video which improves video performance through hardware acceleration on mobile devices. It also magically decreases processor and memory usage while enabling higher frame rates and improved video quality. In short its Flash “Magic.” 🙂

According to Adobe test results this new Stage Video brings up to 80 percent CPU savings on Windows and Mac desktops with 1080p video and seems to only be for h.264 content. Either way I am curious to learn if this “Magic” in Flash 10.2 will mean we will finally see Flash on BlackBerry Smartphones… Something makes me doubt that but who knows with these upcoming 800Mhz and 1.2Ghz processors.
