The popular Viira GTD implementation for BlackBerry now has a desktop counterpart for Outlook. Chris let us know that Viira now supports synchronizing your tasks between their BlackBerry and Outlook clients. The sync is not OTA like I would like but for BIS users it does it through Desktop Manager though BES users somehow have it sync through the BES connection. The way it works is that Viira adds metadata to tasks that both applications understand so the sync just includes that metadata which both clients can read.
The Viira client for both Outlook and BlackBerry is expensive at $69.99 but for the hardcore GTD (Getting Things Done) users it may be worth it. You can read more about the suite at:

That is a bit pricey but clearly Viira is targeting heavy business users. It would be a significantly more attractive sell if syncing was done OTA for sure. With the proper setup though the syncing could be done automatically everytime you connect to your computer.

Chris here, the developer behind the Viira Outlook Suite for a quick clarification.
Syncing is done OTA for those with a BES BlackBerry. No additional setup is required either – comes straight out of the box.
You can check it out and create a project, context, a to-do etc. from your BlackBerry and it will appear inside Outlook within seconds – its pretty cool.
People with a BIS BlackBerry will need to use whatever mechanism they are already using to sync with Outlook – Google sync, USB, etc.

Thanks for the clarification. Sounds great for those on BES. OTA sync is a great feature.

I really wanted to try this out, it looks like a great suite but I can’t justify those prices. I think it’s targeting power enterprise users, not consumers who just want use the GTD system.
