Shape Photo Translator Graduates Out of Beta

Photo Translator

When we first ran into Shape’s Photo Translator in beta testing I was pretty impressed with the app. It is nowhere near 100% accurate but it was good enough for many tasks like translating a word or sentence on a menu. Shape let us know that after their beta testing campaign they have released Photo Translator for all to use for a reasonable price of $4.99 in the store.

The app supports English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Czech, Dutch, Greek, Chinese Traditional, Chinese Simplified, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Arabic, Croatian, Hebrew, and many other languages. It also lets you save text as a memo or send it via email.

Check it out at this link and let us know what you think! You can also pick up a free trial directly from Shape.

  1. I agree with you. I reviewed it for Berryfication and it’s a decent application. Photo/barcode/translating scanning are becoming the latest craves. Getting more and more like the Minority report 😉

  2. It was a bit hit-or-miss when I tried it..

Tried it with a couple of French textbooks, and it made out some words but I’m guessing the photos taken weren’t optimal lighting, etc.

  3. It looks promissing

  4. This is great to see, I will definitely be trying it out!

  5. I wanna try it.

  6. I tried this when it was still in beta phase. Didn’t work for me either. Besides, I rarely had need for it in daily life.
