BlackBerry Traffic App Gets Small Update to v1.3.2.10

138385 138381

It has been awhile since we last heard an update about the BlackBerry Traffic app released by RIM. I am not sure how many of you are actively using the app but Tom let us know it has just received a small update in App World. The new version is up from with no change log available in a typical RIM fashion. Let us know if you spot anything but my guess is this improves compatibility with the OS 6.0 devices…

You can download BlackBerry Traffic for free in App World

  1. When will support for asia come?? :(

  2. Since this doesn’t do voice navigation for the turns I find it completely useless. When they make it talk, I’ll start using it.

  3. I’ve found that most navigation apps on smartphones are too cumbersome. It just makes more sense to invest a couple hundred dollars in a standalone unit (that has traffic info) you can leave in your car. That’s just me though.

  4. For some reason I have a hard time getting this app to work on my torch. Anyone have any ideas on what I may be doing wrong?

    • Are you with AT&T? For some reason they have blocked the BB Maps app, which is needed for BB Traffic to work properly. I know there’s a work-around for this, though I haven’t tried it yet.

      • Oops, of course you are with AT&T. You are saying that you have a Torch. Not thinking there for a moment.

  5. This is a very good app: real time traffic updates; customized on my way or Ill be late messages; fast and effecient search businesses function (faster GPS Lock than POYNT). The only thing missing is voice guidance.

  6. I think this is a great app. First of all, its free. So if you don’t have standalone GPS BB Traffic does the job. GPS is quick and accurate. Shows ETA or time left.

I think the reason there are no voice directions is because that would bulk up the app too much. I used to use Google Maps, but BB traffic is better because of the live directions onscreen.

  7. I find myself making many driving trips lately and Traffic is an awesome complement to my unconnected in car nav. It does what it says and does it well. Sometimes it makes some goofy routing directions though. I wish when selecting a destination it would pop up and ask me if I want Direct or Fastest directions.

  8. What they should do is combine this app with the BlackBerry maps app, and have a killer GPS app that gives you directions and real time traffic updates.

  9. Why not use the traffic that is built in to Gmaps?

RIM needs to learn to give up on this BS

  10. no matter what, ill always want a dedicated commuting device…

  11. DaSaint, I agree… I like pairing and using my bluetooth connection on my TomTom for on the go traffic updates.

    • I have always wanted to try out the TomTom, but most of my friends (who dont even have one) keep telling me that its off a couple yards and the lane assist isn’t good…. would u recommend it *un-biased-ly*??
