BlackBerry PlayBook WebWorks Development Webinars Start Tomorrow

WebWorks Webinar

This is just a friendly reminder that RIM is starting their four part webinar series for WebWorks development on the BlackBerry PlayBook tomorrow. I think RIM plans on really focusing on WebWorks development for the PlayBook unlike the quasi environment it has in BlackBerry 6. You can tell they have their heart set on it since the rumored BlackBerry 6.1 OS details show quite a few feature updates for the browser and WebWorks environment. RIM sent over the whole schedule for the Webinar series which you can find below.

Feb. 1, 2011: Getting Started (2:00 PM EST / 11:00 AM PST)

  • Overview of the BlackBerry WebWorks Platform
  • Setting up your Development Environment
  • Building, deploying and testing a “Hello World” application with the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet simulator

Feb. 3, 2011: My First App (2:00 PM EST / 11:00 AM PST)

  • Building functional and visually appealing applications for the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet
  • Migrating content between the BlackBerry platform, Desktop and 3rd party platforms
  • Using the development tools effectively

Feb 8. 2011: BlackBerry PlayBook Integration (2:00 PM EST / 11:00 AM PST)

  • Building “Super Apps” for the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet
  • Hardware, data and services integration methods
  • How to implement “must have” application features

Feb. 10, 2011: User Interface Guidelines and Best Practices (2:00 PM EST / 11:00 AM PST)

  • UI components, characteristics and design for touch screen interfaces
  • Best practices for maximizing performance and battery life considerations
  • Managing bandwidth and error handling effectively

Each webinar will have Q&A periods at the end so its great time to communicate directly with RIM’s development staff. You can register right now at:

  1. I wonder if these would be interesting to non-developers to “sit in on”?

These events are a good thing though to get the community informed about the upcoming tools.

They’re also having Innovation Forums across North America starting in February for IT and BES admins to attend to, I guess, learn more about the Blackberry platform.

  2. I wish I knew how to develop apps. It seems like a cool thing to be able to do.

  3. I might want to go to one of these events just to see what I learn

  4. Barrist, I’m not a developer but am sitting in on it, if my work day permits.

I want to see to what extent WebWorks brings.
