 curve-sedona-1

The nextgen BlackBerry devices are really starting to get some face time this month. We first saw renders of the device but now we have what looks like live pictures of the actual BlackBerry Curve “Sedona” next generation model courtesy of N4BB. It does not have a model number right now but its called R010 over at RIM.

Here is what has been confirmed in this leak

  • The new Curve model is thin and half the thickness of the 9700 but otherwise feels like a 9700
  • 512MB of RAM
  • OS 6.1 shipped though it is supposedly currently very buggy
  • New notification system like Android that flashes on the top of the screen
  • Higher screen resolution (HVGA 480×360 according to previous leak)

Here are the specs from the previous leak:

  • Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
  • Tri-band UMTS/HSPA 7.2Mbps
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • Wi-Fi b/g/n
  • GPS
  • NFC
  • 512MB of eMMC, 512MB of RAM
  • 5-megapixel camera with flash
  • HVGA 480 x 360 display
  • 1050 mAh battery
  • Tavor MG-1 800MHz CPU
  • BlackBerry OS 6.1
  • 11mm thin

So what are you guys thinking of this new Curve? I can see it being super popular in the business and low end crowd but the upcoming Bold, Torch, and Storm lineup leaks sound much more impressive.

  1. I think its really nice, but I’m definitely waiting to see what the Bold and Storm look like. In particular the Bold.

  2. Whoa didn’t expect to see live pics yet!

    Dakota please!

Hopefully they get os 6.1 working better but for now it looks promising!

Loving the thinness of these new models, half of 9700. Impressive.

  3. So N4BB says its a higher res than any current BB? If its Vga , that’s quite a nice looking entry level phone

  4. I think it’s pretty. I still think the bold 9700 is the best Blackberry made. Of course those who have/had the 9000 would disagree.

I would live to see the 9700 with a slightly bigger screen and all the updated goodness. I still laugh when I see 512MB though. Lol

To save on real estate when it comes to the front, I would love to see the trackpad moved to the side of the device like the trackwheel? I think that may be interesting. I mean, all these smartphones are being made with less buttons. But I think outloud. Haha!

    :)

  5. All of OS 6 is buggy, ask any dev

  6. Its been a wild ride RIM , but my next toy is a Moto Atrix 4g.

  7. Looks pretty good… Only if 4g is added too..

  8. The new Curve is the old Bold?

  9. Interesting…but these photos don’t look much like the renderings of the new Curve that were leaked last week (well, to the extent that any BlackBerry looks different from another). Makes me wonder if there aren’t two different upcoming Curve devices.

  10. WOW.. Absoulutely amazing!! I never saw such a ground breaking new looking inovative device. RIM is truly on the cutting edge!!!! This is something to really get exicted about.

I will look for more news about it from my 4G Android.

  11. I really like it, but I’m a Bold guy and I can’t wait to see that.
