Improved Chat for Facebook BlackBerry Client Released

AhazDesigns let us know that they have recently released a new Facebook Chat client for BlackBerry. I have been waiting out for an official Facebook Chat client from RIM since it is based on the same Jabber protocol as Google Talk but that has yet to even be rumored. Until then the new Improved Chat for Facebook app is a pretty solid offering from AhazDesigns with a very low price point at $1.99 in App World.

Features include:

  • Reliably chat on Facebook
  • Homescreen notifications
  • Clean and simple UI
  • Save chats as long as YOU want
  • Choose your sound for new messages
  • Update your facebook status from inside of the application
  • Chats save automatically and to delete them you highlight the chat you want to remove and click the BlackBerry® button then press delete selected chat.
  • And more

You can find Improved Chat for Facebook in App World for $1.99. Let us know how it compares with the other Facebook Chat apps out there!

  1. I don’t understand the need for the FB chat when you can chat inside the app? Or use BBM? SMS?

What am I missing? Help? Lol :p

    • No you cannot chat inside the app, unless you have iOS or Anrdoid, but not on the BB app. And not everyone one everyone’s facebook friends list has BBM, or even a cellphone. For example I have a 73 year old aunt who I chat with on facebook, and she has no cell.

  2. I sure as heck don’t see why you would PAY for it, at any rate.
Then again, I don’t even know what a FB page looks like.

  3. Why RIM does not have its own native app out is beyond me, especially when it seems pretty easy to develop (Jabber protocol as noted).

They stopped development for ICQ, should put those resources into FB chat.

  4. Why pay? There is the free nimbuzz and im+lite…

  5. This app will absolutely not work on my 9780. I’m knowledgable about programming and bbos, and the issues I have with the app mystify me as there is a different error every time I try to launch it. Waste of $2

  6. somebody has already developed a facebook app which includes chat, I got it from app world and was surprised by its features, Chat with Facebook, check it out – a fully functional facebook app.
