WebWorks Development for Tablet OS Webinars Start Feb 1st

Screen shot 2011-01-16 at 4.56.48 PM When RIM first announced the AIR/Flash SDK for the Tablet OS on the BlackBerry PlayBook I was excited but I am not a big fan of Adobe’s Air platform. I was waiting for RIM to complete the circle with WebWorks for the BlackBerry PlayBook and they finally have. RIM is posing WebWorks as the way to create cross platform apps between BlackBerry smartphones and tablets. I am not sure how well that will work but I am excited to get more horsepower on the PlayBook since the BlackBerry 6 WebKit browser still chokes on JavaScript probably due to the underpowered processor.

Now that RIM has released WebWorks in SDK format for the PlayBook they are throwing a 4 part webinar series on developing using WebWorks. The seminar will cover how to:

  • Install tools
  • Set up development environments
  • Create your first application
  • Test apps on the simulator

The first webinar starts February 1st at 2PM EST so there is lots of lead time here for you to sign up at this link. The other cool thing is that they have announced the whole schedule of upcoming webinars in the series which you can find at that same link.
