A Laptop Battery Strapped to a Tablet…

With the BlackBerry PlayBook essentially being a 7” screen attached to a huge battery it makes me wonder where this battery life concern comes from. The BlackBerry PlayBook is shipping with a 5300mAh battery which is just huge. To give you some perspective my MacBook Pro has a 5600mAh battery. It easily lasts 7 hours and that is with a 2.4Ghz dual core processor, 13.3 inch screen, hard drive, and tons more. Now how much of a dent will a dual core 1Ghz processor with a 7” screen make?

RIM has admitted that the current dev BlackBerry PlayBook models don’t have power management enabled since that is the last step of RIM’s process. Yet we still have analysts and reporters bugging RIM about battery life.

Well now we have RIM on the record yet again to AllThingsD saying “We’ll have good battery life.” Any more questions? 🙂 How about “RIM can we please get a IMAP or better yet an ActiveSync client?”

Thanks Barrist for the tip!
