The good news keeps on rolling in. We now have the specs and a picture of an upcoming BlackBerry Curve series refresh that finally brings something new. No longer is the classic Curve hampered with a 320×240 resolution screen. According to BGR it will pack a 480×360 display along with a ton of other upgrades. IT ALSO HAS A 800Mhz CPU!!!! The other nice thing is it is coming wit Tri-Band UMTS/HSPA which means we will finally see 7.2Mbps possible speeds on a BlackBerry!
Here are the specs we know for you to drool over!
- Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
- Tri-band UMTS/HSPA 7.2Mbps
- Bluetooth 2.1
- Wi-Fi b/g/n
- GPS
- NFC
- 512MB of eMMC, 512MB of RAM
- 5-megapixel camera with flash
- HVGA 480 x 360 display
- 1050 mAh battery
- Tavor MG-1 800MHz CPU
- BlackBerry OS 6.1
- 11mm thin
Sadly there is no Bluetooth upgrade with the new low power spec but the 800Mhz CPU is HUGE! Anybody else now wondering if the Bold Dakota will have a 1Ghz CPU? Though the weird thing is that this Curve has a 1050mAh battery which might be tight on battery life.

As dated as these specs seem, we all know its for the lower-end market which will probably eat it up.

They aren’t really dated. The EVO Shift is at 800mhz…

Agreed. but it seems like people expect RIM to announce a quadcore curve or something ,, based on alot of comments on other sites. They don’t realize that there is a phone for different markets.. this obviously towards the lower end.

I agree that the megapixels need to be up’d. Along with RAM, on board mem, etc.

so isn’t this basically a better 9780? if they’re able to price these at like 29.99-49.99 on contract, i think people would buy these in huge numbers.

Well, before you guys drool, just keep in mind the current Marvell PXA-930 chipset in Torch, 9780 and many others (which was released in 2008) is originally clocked to 800Mhz and its codename is Tavor.
RIM chose to underclock it to 624Mhz, if I recall correctly. So the CPU does not look like a new one to me.
